Starting Therapy

Starting therapy can feel like a big step.
This section walks you through what to expect before we begin, including consultations, next steps, and how to decide if therapy with me feels like the right fit.

  • Where I’m Licensed & Who I Can Work With

I am licensed to provide therapy to clients located in:

Hawaii, Nevada, New York, Texas, and Washington

Clients in these states may use insurance or self-pay, depending on coverage.

I am also authorized through PSYPACT to provide telepsychology services to clients located in the following states.

Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Wyoming

Sessions in PSYPACT states are currently offered as self-pay.

    Important Location Note

I provide telehealth therapy for adults based on where you are physically located at the time of your session.

Eligibility is determined by your physical location during the session—not your permanent residence.

If you’re unsure whether your location is covered, feel free to reach out. I’m happy to help you confirm before scheduling.

  • What can I expect from therapy?
Therapy is a space to explore your thoughts, emotions, and experiences without judgment. I use a compassionate, culturally responsive approach rooted in both evidence and real-world understanding. We’ll work together to help you feel more grounded, connected, and in control of your own story.

What types of concerns do you help with?
I support clients navigating a wide range of challenges, including:

    • Stress and anxiety

    • Trauma and PTSD

    • Grief and loss

    • Identity exploration

    • Life transitions

    • Burnout and boundaries

    • Self-worth and confidence

If it’s important to you, it’s worth exploring here.

What if I’ve never been to therapy before?
That’s completely okay. Many of my clients are new to therapy. We’ll go at your pace—no pressure, no rush—and I’ll guide you every step of the way.

  • Session Details & Logistics

Are sessions virtual or in person?
All sessions are currently virtual. We meet via a secure, HIPAA-compliant platform so you can attend from the comfort of your home or another private space.

What do I need for a virtual session?
    You’ll need:

    • A stable internet connection

    • A device with a camera and microphone

    • A quiet, private space where you can feel comfortable and supported

Can I attend sessions from anywhere?
For your privacy and safety, sessions need to take place in a quiet, private location where you can speak freely without being overheard or interrupted.

Sessions cannot be held in public or shared spaces (such as workplaces, cafés, laundromats, or other public settings), as this compromises confidentiality and the quality of care.

If you’re attending from a car, that’s okay as long as you are alone, parked, and in a private setting where you can speak freely. Sessions should not take place while driving.

If you’re unsure whether your location will work, feel free to check in ahead of time—we can problem-solve together.

What if I have tech issues?
Life happens. If technical issues come up, we’ll troubleshoot together or reschedule as needed—no stress.

What should I expect in the first session?
The intake session (75 minutes) is where we begin your healing journey. We’ll talk about what’s bringing you in, what you hope to get out of therapy, and start building a personalized plan together.

  • What if I need to cancel or reschedule?
I ask for at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule a session. This helps protect the time set aside for your care and allows that space to be offered to someone else.

Late cancellations or missed sessions may result in a fee. I understand that life happens—if something unexpected comes up, please reach out as soon as you’re able.

  • What is a consultation?
A consultation is a free 15-minute virtual session where we explore what you’re looking for and decide whether working together feels like a good fit. You’re welcome to ask questions, get a sense of my approach, and see if this feels like the right next step for you.

    What happens after the consultation?
If we decide to move forward, we’ll talk about next steps, scheduling, and any questions you have about starting therapy. If now isn’t the right time, that’s okay too.

How do I schedule a consultation?
Click the “Schedule a Free 15-Minute Consultation” button on my site and choose a time that works for you. The process is quick, secure, and easy.

    Still Have Questions?

I’m here to make this process feel clear, supportive, and doable.

Fees & Payment Options

Therapy is an investment in your well-being, and I believe in making the process clear and transparent.
This section outlines insurance options, private pay rates, sliding-scale availability, and billing details so you know what to expect.

  • Let’s keep this part simple, clear, and stress-free.

I believe care should be accessible and transparent. Below you’ll find everything you need to know about insurance, private pay, sliding fees, and policies—so there are no surprises.

    Insurance Coverage

    Do you accept insurance?
Yes. I currently accept insurance for clients located in Hawaii, Nevada, New York, Texas, and Washington.

Billing is managed through Alma, which partners with major carriers such as Aetna and its subsidiaries, including Allied Benefit Systems, Meritain, Nippon Life Benefits, Trustmark, and HealthScope Benefits.

Once you request an appointment, Alma will verify your benefits and confirm coverage so you know what to expect before we begin.

If you’re located in a PSYPACT state, I’m authorized to work with you through PSYPACT. Sessions in these states are currently offered as self-pay.

  • What are your private pay rates?

    • Initial Intake Session (75 minutes): $210

    • Ongoing Therapy Sessions (50 minutes): $185

    • Ongoing Therapy Sessions (60 minutes): $195

Many clients choose private pay for greater privacy, flexibility, and full control over their care — no insurance restrictions or required diagnoses.

  • Do you offer sliding scale rates?
Yes. I reserve a limited number of sliding-scale spots for clients experiencing financial hardship.

If cost is a concern, we can talk about it during your consultation—no pressure, no shame. Availability is limited and based on current openings.

  • When is payment due?
Payment is due at the time of your session. All major credit and debit cards are accepted securely through the client portal.

For self-pay clients, Alma provides a Good Faith Estimate in accordance with the No Surprises Act, so you’ll always know what to expect.

Can I switch between insurance and private pay?
In many cases, yes. If your coverage changes or you’d like to adjust how you pay, we can discuss options and update your payment method as needed.
