About Dr. Brooklyn Chick (Dr. Tanya Crabb)
I’m Dr. Tanya Crabb, but most people know me as Dr. Brooklyn Chick™ — the psychologist who brings equal parts clinical expertise, cultural fluency, and real-talk healing to the work we do together.
I’m a proud Jamaican immigrant, first-generation college graduate, and Gulf War veteran. Those experiences shaped how I see the world — and they fuel my commitment to creating a therapy space where culture, identity, and lived experience are honored, not explained.
My path to becoming a mental health provider began in the Marine Corps, where I witnessed how trauma and stress impacted service members—especially women of color. That experience lit a fire in me. After earning my doctorate in clinical psychology, I worked in VA hospitals, community clinics, and college centers, always centering culturally grounded, compassionate care. As a Black woman and veteran, I create spaces where people feel seen, supported, and empowered to heal—because we all deserve that.
What’s it like to work with me?
Working with me feels like exhaling. I show up with honesty, heart, and just the right touch of humor—because healing doesn’t have to be heavy all the time. We do the deep work in a space that’s real, supportive, and free of judgment. My intake process is simple and collaborative: we’ll talk about your goals, your story, and what you need to feel safe. Progress isn’t always a straight line, but you’ll start noticing shifts—more self-trust, more peace, and more you. I especially love working with Black women and female veterans who are tired of being “the strong one” and are finally ready to put themselves first.
How do I stay current and keep growing?
I believe good therapists never stop learning. I stay current through ongoing trainings in trauma-informed care, cultural humility, and evidence-based practices that support people navigating life transitions, stress, and identity-related challenges. I also connect regularly with peers for consultation and support. Lately, I’ve been exploring somatic approaches and the power of storytelling in healing. No matter who I’m working with, I’m always growing—because healing is dynamic, and so is the care I provide.
This Is Your Space to Heal.
My practice is built for people who are tired of therapy that feels scripted, surface-level, or out of touch with real life. If you’re the one everyone leans on, moving through a life transition that knocked you off your feet, or finally ready to unpack generational wounds you’ve carried far too long — you’re in the right place.
Here, you’ll find evidence-based care rooted in cultural affirmation and real conversation. No code-switching. No filters. Just space to be your full, unapologetic self — because healing works best when you can show up as you.
Ready to step into a space where your story is safe, your truth is seen, and your healing can finally begin? Let’s connect.
